Going to repeat this and I was correct the first time. It is clearly time for Jim Case to quit and move into retirement. This program has regressed tremendously since the stadium investment and it is time for some fresh blood and attitude.
This is a prime example of why you never put someone's name on a field or building before they retire. Team looks horrible.
And I would be in favor of a new softball coach as well. Jana has been great/ but all great things come to an end.

I'm still a Jana fan.
The post-tuna sweep has gone how I thought it would... but I wasn't expecting to lose a home game to a bad UCA team. We have 2 left in the series. I figured we would sweep them and Bellarmine with a HCBU win in the middle to finish above .500.
Now we have to win out to finish at .500. We have the 9th best overall record in the conference.
Something isn't right. I don't expect us to be top 5 nationally, but top 5 in the conference isn't too much to expect with our history and facilities.

Case has gotten complacent. Need a top notch much younger manager to give program some spark. What really stands out to me is the lack of quality pitching depth. Walk after walk.
7 straight losses now? Time for the BOT to make a move. Still say Seitz does not hire and fire coaches at JSU.

Just be happy that we win games at all. Or some hooplah like that.

Dont know Case very well but from all I hear he is a good guy. Grass was a good guy so that doesnt appear to be of much help. Jana is a good person also. Luckily we have had very few bad people coach.

Luckily we have had very few bad people coach. All of them are and have been great people. But there comes a time to move on and be what you can be. All 3 of those fine people will have a very nice Alabama State Retirement. Have been watching and keeping up with Jax St baseball since about 1975. Know what the program has been and understand the challenges of today.

I got painted in a negative light for saying this same thing earlier in the season. I stand by what I said. I have never been a Case fan. I was happy with his hiring, but I was expecting to see an occasional 40-win season. That never materialized. It isn't going to improve without a change being made. I hate it... if we were heading in the right direction I wouldn't be vocal about it.

I'm fully onboard the "time to retire, Jim" train. But I absolutely do NOT think Jana needs to go.
Taking a look at the past five non-Covid seasons (2022 records through the morning of May 16):
Softball: 2017 - 41-12 (.774) 2018 - 35-25 (.583) 2019 - 36-15 (.706) 2020 - covid 2021 - 24-25 (.490) 2022 - 31-24 (.564)
Baseball: 2017 - 30-26 (.536) 2018 - 32-25 (.561) 2019 - 39-23 (.629) 2020 - covid 2021 - 26-27 (.491) 2022 - 23-27 (.460)
The softball team has had two seasons over this span where they won 70% or more of their games. After a rare losing campaign in 2021, they appear to be rebounding well, with a 31-24 record in 2022.
Over the same span, baseball has managed only one season where they won more than 60% of their games, and the trend is clearly pointing in the wrong direction since then.
Rudy Abbott was one of the greatest coaches ever to grace our campus. I went to multiple games during his last couple of seasons. As much as I loved him as a coach, it was painfully obvious the team wasn't playing with the same kind of fire. I don't get that vibe this year with the softball team. I definitely sense it with the baseball team.
If Case's contract is up, then we should allow him to gracefully retire. I can be convinced to let him coach one more year if that's all he's got left on his contract. But if he's got anything more than one year, as much as I hate to say it, it's probably time to drop the hammer.

beating Sienna in baseball, does not count. We need to start recruiting more athletes. We should be stalking Lake Point and East Cobb baseball for kids.
