At last nights event Coach A Rod said we just got an OL transfer from UGA who was one of the top recruits in Alabama his senior year. Official announcement may come as early as today.

It’s official…..we have our first ever 5 star transfer. Clay Webb (C, 6-3, 290, Oxford, Ala./Oxford HS/Univ. of Georgia) 5-247Sports, 5-Rivals, 5-ESPN Second. Third. Roc Thomas was also a 5-star transfer. So was Ryan Perrilloux. Ironically, two of the three 5-stars have come from Oxford. Edit: Clay Webb and Ryan Perrilloux were consensus 5-stars. Roc was rated 5-stars by 247 composite and Rivals, but ESPN only had him as a 4-star.

I think they all over rated roc Roc may not have produced for us like a "5 star" runner should have, but he did make it to the NFL, and that's really all the "stars" are meant to forecast... the chances a player will make it to the League. Based entirely on his collegiate production, Clay Webb, so far, has been way overrated. That said, he's still young enough that he can improve. I'd like to think he was just a bad fit for UGA's system. He was strong as an ox coming out of high school, so I'm hoping he'll recapture that mojo and shove around ASUN and CUSA defensive linemen for the next few years.

originally Stars were a projection of ability to participate. 5 star was an immediate starter. four was a 3 year starter. three and below were developmental players. That is why there were almost no five star OL. it is extremely difficult to jump right in and start on the OL as a true frosh.

That is why there were almost no five star OL. it is extremely difficult to jump right in and start on the OL as a true frosh. Yeah, but then they started adding in projections. (Scout.com, which became 247Sports, actually did this from the start...) Regardless, I was wrong on one key point: they don't project pro potential. They project future DRAFT potential. So 5-star players aren't just projected to PLAY in the NFL, as I said, but they're projected to be 1st (or at least 2nd) round picks in the Draft. So with that in mind, back to Slim's original comment that started the stars talk... yeah, Roc was way overrated. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ 247Sports:Rivals:ESPN:
