Sorry to flaunt ignorance but as someone who lives at the furthest possible geographic distance from Jacksonville… what?

I heard that JSU BOT approved the purchase of the property. Also read online Anniston Star article concerning BOT meeting that the stadium project is being reviewed due to cost and interest rates. Give options were presented to BOT. CURRENTLY review the 5th option to build student housing at another site. It sure would be nice for the AD to give an update on the stadium.

I didn't realize that church was defunct. I parked over there to go to games one year before they started doing the shuttle from the library.

We’d love to welcome you to one of our Sunday morning worship services. We’re entering an exciting time in the life of our church, as we anticipate moving Forward As one in a new location. Until then, please join us for worship! 9am service at FBC Jacksonville: 230 7th St NE, Jacksonville, AL 36265 -----old 10am service at Eaglepoint: 301 Henry Rd SW, Jacksonville, AL 36265 -----new

Was there tornado damage at the 7th street location? I know their parking lot served as HQ for a lot of the relief operations, but I never heard if the building itself was damaged.
If so, that could *potentially* account for the change in location. Maybe it was just too expensive to fix?
I'm just guessing here. I'm 250 miles away from there, so I have no other intel than what's been said here.

I don't remember it getting much damage from the tornado. But I've also not been back there much. I lived over on Washington. That was also two and a half years ago.

Dwindling membership? Changing demographics? Downsizing and need smaller facility? Dunno.

I didn't realize EaglePoint had become a second campus of FBCJ. I dunno... maybe it always was, but I always thought it was a non-denominational startup church. Regardless, if attendance at EaglePoint is surging and attendance at FBCJ is declining, it makes sense to go with one campus, and strange as it is to say, the old barn is probably the more modern of the two. I knew the FBCJ campus was pretty good sized, but looking at a modern aerial shot, it's VERY large, and should be more than adequate to serve the needs of the music department for classroom, rehearsal, and recital hall space. So all that will be required for the ROC is 1) retrofitting and renovating the existing structure for the aforementioned purposes, 2) building a kickass performance hall which will serve as the face of the ROC, 3) connecting the two buildings in some pleasing, aesthetically sound way. As with the new stadium update, it should be awesome if they do it right. Here's the photo I mentioned. Hoping this shares OK:

6 mil still seems a very hefty price tag for a building in Jacksonville.

At one time, FBC also owned the lot with the tennis courts across the street and in front of the church building. Maybe that was included too.
And yes, to my knowledge, EaglePoint has always been the contemporary part of FBC.
