6 mil still seems a very hefty price tag for a building in Jacksonville. I read the same article as you, so it certainly read that the building and lot would be purchased for (no more than) that amount. But I'm wondering if what was ACTUALLY approved by the BoT was that the building would be acquired *and renovated/repurposed* for no more than $6M. That would make the cost MUCH more reasonable, and wouldn't appear to telegraph how much we were willing to spend on the purchase itself before the purchase was finalized: "I'd like to sell my house. It's a solid building and excellent lot. It's worth at least $200,000, I'm sure." "I'd like to buy your house, but I won't spend more than $6 million. How much do you want to sell it for?" "Ummm... after much thought and reflection, I think we'll be willing to let it go for $6 million."
