I'm curious what trips the Southerners are going to be making from here on out. They've been at seemingly every FBS opponent for the past 20+ years, but I bet that changes. No one we have the funds or the desire to go to NMSU. I bet they still go to the P5 money game every year.

No one we have the funds or the desire to go to NMSU. I'd assume they'd do what they've done in the past. P5 games, Home games, and regional away games. Seriously doubt they'll be heading to NMSU or EMU.

You don't want Michigan in mid-October. Mid-September is about perfect. Bringing a team from Michigan to Alabama in September is perfect from the standpoint of home field advantage. It'll still be a billion degrees out on that field in late September. You'd be surprised. It might be. It also might be 68 with a nice breeze. It might also be 48 and raining. September is a mixed bag, but it's much more likely to be nice weather in September than in October.

The average high in Jacksonville for Sept. 23 is 84.1 degrees. Depending on cloud cover, that could make the field surface somewhere around 100 degrees or more on average. The record high for this date is 99 degrees, which would make the field surface feel much like the surface of the sun. Construction on the expansion will be underway by then, so the Eagles won't have the benefit of playing under the lights. I mean, you're not wrong. It was a very windy 72 degrees last year on this date. But the odds are not in EMU's favor.

Thought we were still talking about Michigan. Yeah Jacksonville in September sucks.

So our first FBS home game is Eastern Michigan. Gotta start somewhere.
I doubt the band will be traveling to many conference games other than WKU or MTSU. A road game would have to be reasonably close if it isn't a money game for them to travel.
But after I win the billion dollar power ball they will be flying charter to every game.

I wish we could get the Southerners to NMSU. They probably have the most Southerners-like band in the new CUSA. (Probably closer to 80s Southerners than 2020s Southerners, but still solid.) Liberty's band isn't bad either, but both of these would be a heck of a drive. MTSU has got to be a definite trip for the band every other year. They're a solid band, but a different style than JSU. Doesn't stop us from being blood rivals, of course. (That band in Pike County isn't exactly our style either.) I'm just curious if the mutual hate the Southerners and Band of Blue mysteriously had for each other in the 1990s will persist into 2023. Seriously, the '94 and '98 games were magical for anyone loving bands hating each other. Especially '98. Man, what a beautiful day that was. Southerners went to the playoff game at WKU in '03, so there's precedence there. Their band's not much, but it's an easy trip up to Bowling Green, and depending on the timing of the game, there's a solid chance the Southerners could land a really great exhibition somewhere along the way. There are some good high school bands up that way. Expanding our recruiting reach northward may help the Southerners finally increase their numbers. That was sarcasm, folks. But seriously, there are some good kids up that way. We should take them from whatever band they currently think they want to be a part of. It's what we do. I'm holding out hope that within the decade, we'll get another nearby rival into CUSA, whether it's Chatty, KSU, or someone else. Rivalries are a good thing to have, for football teams and for bands.
