So...
It's game week. What are we thinking for this weekend? Any expectations? Interesting things you guys are keeping an eye out for?
Me personally, I'm looking to use this game as a gauge of how much salt to take whatever coach says with. We've heard all camp that the defense has been playing well and the offense is struggling. So for me if we come out and hang 40 it tells me that coach is going to be the teams biggest critic, and I appreciate that. If we come out and give up 40, it tells me maybe he's more prone to sugarcoating that I'd have guessed.
That said, I'm gonna be a little pessimistic. Based on what I've heard out of camp and due to this being circled on SFAs calendar for a revenge game, I'm going to give the edge to the Jacks to start the year. This is a squad that has the potential to go deep and they have more on the line than we do.

I spoke with several of the coaches this weekend. They seemed very guarded. Said this team is very young but talented. This year really doesn’t matter to anyone but the fans. Therefore I believe by mid season we will see a lot of new players take a more consistent role.
I’ve had conflicting reports about the OL and WRs. Some say good and others said bad.
From insiders who’ve watched practices I was told discipline is 180 degrees opposite to our past. Even the officials wince whenever they have to throw a flag. Everyone said Smoot can sling it and has a high ceiling.

I'm picking the Gamecocks, but man, it's not going to be an easy one. SFA is a really, really good team who could make some noise in the playoffs if matchups are kind to them. JSU is having to overcome a LOT.
In the end, I think we'll give the Lumberjacks one more reason to hate us on our way out the door.
Revenge will have to wait until they're invited to join us in CUSA.

With so much roster turnover and a new staff I can’t begin to make a prediction. It just isn’t possible.
We could win by 30 or lose by 30. Neither would surprise me or cause me to panic.

The only way Saturday is a failure is if we resemble the UAB game. But I'm mainly interested in seeing discipline and effort in Week 0.

I'm mostly looking to see how we progress over the course of the season. If we come out a little sloppy, but we play hard and don't shoot ourselves in the foot Ill be happy because that's already an improvement. I'm most interested on seeing how the staff can correct and improve over the course of the season. Honestly above all else, I'm just ready to watch some Gamecock Football.

Going with my heart on this one, JSU wins. Gut thinks otherwise tho.

We could win 70-0 or lose by multiple touchdowns. Who knows. Maybe Coach will bring his talents and own the FCS regular season for a year.
