Oh... one more important note about this deal.
All CBSSN games and all games on ESPN's linear networks use their professional crew and announcers.
It's only once you step down to ESPN+ that they rely on the host school for this.
Now bear in mind, CUSA schools, overall, have much better broadcasting capabilities than we're used to seeing at the FCS level. (JSU has normally been at or near the top in stream quality. Now we'll be closer to the bottom end.) So even the ESPN+ games will be **FAR** better than what we see at, say, a game against UNA at Trash Panda Stadium.
But for all those games in October, we'll be getting announcers and a production crew who do this for a living, and not as a side hustle.

La Tech AD Eric Wood says in this interview that CBS Sports games will be on Thursday, Friday, or Saturday. None of them will be Tuesday or Wednesday. If correct, then those days would be on ESPN networks. www.podbean.com/ei/pb-ei8ba-13162b3

A little more detail on my previous post... The BTB Podcast discussion with LA Tech AD Eric Wood turns to the media deal at the 22:00 mark of the podcast. Here's the summary: - All football coaches and ADs were involved and unanimously agreed to the deal, which was brokered by Octagon. Their stated goals going into negotiations were 1) increase revenue and 2) increase visibility. The deal they secured accomplishes both.
- Apart from football (more on that below) the deal moves CUSA's olympic sports off of the conference's little known proprietary streaming service CUSA-TV onto ESPN+. (Note that Jax State fans won't notice much of a change, since OVC and ASUN athletics have been on ESPN+ for years. But this is a HUGE improvement for CUSA, which has not had much of a presence on ESPN.)
- Regarding football's midweek deal, well... here's a direct quote from Eric Wood:
I don't think you can get much clearer than that, and this is a direct quote from a current CUSA athletic director, not some superfan blogging from his momma's basement.
I'll add this: This is REALLY the type of information which should've been part of the official CUSA release, or, failing that, a release from the individual schools. Looking at you, JSU.

It's really not that simple since there are 9 schools instead of 8.

If you all will remember, CRR basically said all of this when he was hired. He said he didn’t care what night we had to play on, we had to do what we could to develop our brand so that more people know about JSU. Marketing, folks. 😀

here's a direct quote from Eric Wood: It's really not that simple since there are 9 schools instead of 8. In 2023, the Tuesday-Wednesday dates will be Oct. 3-4, Oct. 10-11, Oct. 17-18, and Oct. 24-25, plus an extra Tuesday on Oct. 31. I blocked out a possible 9-team, 8-conference-game schedule and did wind up with some weirdness in October. Depending how everything lays out, the specifics could change, but here's what I ran into, and how I fixed it: Not counting that extra Halloween Tuesday, every team wound up with 2 home games in October, except for three, which only had a single home game. Another team won the lottery and got three October home games. I checked earlier in the season and found a week where the three teams missing an October home date were all at home, then swapped this block of games out with games for the first week of November (the week containing the extra October Tuesday). I then shifted those three specific games to Oct. 31, while leaving the remaining game on Saturday, Nov. 4. Problem solved. All 9 teams now have a minimum of 2 home games on Tuesday/Wednesday in October. The one team with the extra home game couldn't be quite as cleanly fixed, but if it's a problem for anyone, CUSA traditionally plays a Week Zero conference game on CBSSN. Take one of this team's October games and shift it to Week Zero, and give both participating teams an extra bye week in October. Problem solved. Now all 9 teams play exactly 9 home games on Tuesday/Wednesday in October on ESPN. The team that "loses" an October date gets a Week Zero game at home on CBSSN against a conference opponent. That opponent enjoys an extra bye week at a crucial time mid-season. It's a win for everyone. Thank heavens we'll be up to 10 teams in 2024.
