Coach Abbott would've shown this coach the door. I miss the Abbott baseball culture. Wins were expected, no matter who you played. Meanwhile, the Troy Condoms just beat Auburn yesterday. Yeah, but 99-01 sure were rough š¬. Do you think the results would have been the same if Rudy had the same infrastructure as now? I was at the tornado game in Tuscaloosaā¦ and the game where we ended their home win streak. Coaching wasnāt our problem back thenā¦

Rudy Abbott would have been successful with the current infrastructure. But the lottery issues concerning baseball is something he never had to deal with during his hey day. Most of his best players came from Georgia and all over the country due to his relationships with many major league scouts who sent players to play for him.
But he was an outstanding fundamental coach. None of his teams would give up 7 runs in one inning on 2 hits, 6 walks and 2 hit batters.
Knew Rudy personally as I grew up in Jacksonville. He was one of a kind.

Many states in the south started participating in the lottery around the year 2000. Georgia, Florida and Louisiana. All 3 of these states started using some of this money for educational scholarships which aided baseball recruiting and still does to this day.

Baseball scholarships are wonky anyway. That said, all of our regional rivals face the same challenges we do.

All schools in Alabama are at a huge disadvantage vs every other state when it comes to baseball recruiting.

All schools in Alabama are at a huge disadvantage vs every other state when it comes to baseball recruiting. They are, but if we just compare apples to apples, troy state (RPI 27), Samford (RPI 80), and even USA (RPI 139) and Bama State (RPI 145) appear to do it much better than Jax State (RPI 179). On the plus side, we could be UNA... Here's how the state stacks up (as of April 28, 2023): 22 Bama 27 troy state 47 Auburn 80 Samford 139 USA 145 ASU 179 Jax State 202 UAB 278 AAMU 288 UNA And here's how CUSA24 looks: 15 Dallas Baptist 64 Liberty 123 Sam Houston 130 La Tech 152 MTSU 174 Kennesaw 179 Jax State 199 WKU 212 FIU 280 NMSU

Just my opinion.

With just three series left in the Conference baseball season, 9 games, the Gamecocks are 14-7 for a winning percentage of .667.
This puts JSU in 4th place in the 14 team ASUN, and just two games out of 1st place.
The team is 2nd in Runs For and in Runs Against.
Go Gamecocks!!!!

Not having enough arms to be competitive in non conference game is ridiculous. 2 losses to Alabama St, losses to Troy, UAB and Samford is simply not going to be acceptable. Florida Gulf Coast has dropped 17 runs on Jim Caseyās weekend starters. So so much for ā saving pitchers.ā. Jim Case should not coach another game after this season ends. He should be done/ retired. Decision should not even be questioned. Problem at Jax St is the current AD does not make this decision. BOT needs to step up and do what is right for the program. We will take 2 out of 3 from UCA and maybe sweep tunaā¦ then someone will pop up to brag about how great we are in conference and how anyone not supporting Case isnāt a real JSU fan. I got the tUNA predictionā¦and the resulting response. Letās see about the noncon games directly ahead. Could be 0-2 but Iām thinking 1-1. Then 1-5 against Liberty and Lipscombā¦ maybe 2-4ā¦and probably a mercy rule against Aub. 2-1 against UCA. If Iām right, our final conference stretch will be 4-5, and 5-7 overall. I would love to be wrong and go 12-0. 18-12 is .667 26-28 overall is basically the same record as last year.

Just my opinion. So sad. We're in the bottom of the barrel in the state. Meanwhile the school in Pike County is right up there with Alabama.
CUSA isn't going to help our case very much either. I know Dallas Baptist will be a perrennial RPI booster, and probably Liberty too and La Tech for the most part. But all the rest have pretty much just been middling programs. I hope we can be a top program yearly in CUSA with them. We've got the facilities to do it.

We do have the facilities! IMO it is time for a change.
Gotta trust that Greg knows that too and maybe is trying to figure out how to do so correctly...

We do have the facilities! IMO it is time for a change. Gotta trust that Greg knows that too and maybe is trying to figure out how to do so correctly... It would help if, RIGHT NOW. baseball & basketball had any NIL money. The schools we are competing against certainly do. It's the cost of moving up in football. Our budget will only stretch so far. I feel sure a plan is in place. Doesn't happen automatically. If anyone wants to actually help, instead of calling for firings and complaining, CUT A CHECK! That's a sure fire fix.
