The geographical matchups favor the Sun Belt Conference members, but we need to be successful in CUSA for that to happen. To be successful in CUSA, we need strong NIL collectives to be organized. We have an operating NIL collective for football, but I don't know if we have one for other sports, such as men's and women's basketball or baseball. MTSU men's basketball collective gave each player $30,000 last year, and they finished in 8th place in the league. We're nowhere close to that; without a collective, we will be mired in mediocrity, at best. We have a lot of work to do as an alumni base if we want to be successful. This is not something the university can do because NCAA rules prohibit it. The landscape of college sports is changing, and we need to be prepared to change with it or we will be left behind. We can't complain about it, it's just the way it is. The great thing is that the SBC commish has said they want to add value if they ever see an opportunity to expand. If Jax State became a perennial mid-major "power" in basketball, and really made a national splash in football for a couple of years, I believe we'd be a target by the SBC. That conference likes good football and rivalries. They don't care about huge markets. Replicate what Liberty is doing. I believe Liberty would be in the SBC right now if they didn't have the "baggage", mainly from the Falwell family. Liberty has far deeper pockets than Jax St. Cannot mirror that program. They have religious money that far exceeds the Gamecock’s budget.

Not having enough arms to be competitive in non conference game is ridiculous. 2 losses to Alabama St, losses to Troy, UAB and Samford is simply not going to be acceptable. Florida Gulf Coast has dropped 17 runs on Jim Casey’s weekend starters. So so much for “ saving pitchers.”. Jim Case should not coach another game after this season ends. He should be done/ retired. Decision should not even be questioned. Problem at Jax St is the current AD does not make this decision. BOT needs to step up and do what is right for the program. We will take 2 out of 3 from UCA and maybe sweep tuna… then someone will pop up to brag about how great we are in conference and how anyone not supporting Case isn’t a real JSU fan.

If it did there would be a whole different list of national champions. Then why is Jax St playing football games on Tuesday and Wednesday night this fall? Money is everything at this level. And show me a program without money that is even remotely close to being a champion.

Why isn't Texas and USC perennial football powerhouses they have plenty of cash yet they stink. graphics.wsj.com/table/NCAA_2019While winning teams bring in more cash more cash does not equate to winning. Look over this ranking of wealthy football schools and ask yourself how many of these schools perform on a G5 level with a multi million dollar budgets.

Unless big changes happen, I dont see any reason to want to move down to the SBC. I'd say a majority of JSU fans, on top of the average CFB fan in general, don't hold this view. SBC raided CUSA and took some solid programs, them added a very picky JMU. And I've seen WKU and La Tech fans hoping to get their chance one day. I'd be pleased to see JSU get into the SBC. Unless CUSA can somehow become a juggernaut and gain a huge media deal, and then pick apart the SBC. But I just don't see that happening ever.

Unless CUSA can somehow become a juggernaut and gain a huge media deal, and then pick apart the SBC. But I just don't see that happening ever. The Belt's only insurmountable lead over CUSA is in baseball. CUSA holds a big lead over the Belt in hoops. In football, both take a back seat to the American, though the Belt is a notch or two ahead of CUSA. (This could change if NMSU and FIU have success with their recent coaching hires. Both were greatly improved this past season.) The biggest problem with the Sun Belt is that most of the teams JSU fans want to see on a yearly basis are in the SBC East, and if we did somehow finagle an invite, we'd almost certainly wind up in the (far inferior) SBC West. So instead of yearly divisional matchups against the two Georgias, Coastal, App, Marshall, and JMU, we'd be looking at games against Arkansas State, Texas State, LA-La, and ULM. Oh, there's also that school down in Pike County, and USA (which only excites about a quarter of the Gamecock fan base), but the point is, the SBC West is not much more exciting than CUSA, with KSU, MTSU, WKU, Liberty, La Tech, and Sam. I'm not saying the Belt sucks. I actually quantified it recently, just to see whether the Belt or CUSA came out on top, and, based on my subjective Gamecock-centric criteria, the Belt actually came out pretty far ahead. But I'm very happy with the current state of CUSA. If coming years and future realignment allow us to replace FIU, UTEP, and NMSU with more regional teams, it could get even better by far. If crazy crap happens and sends us to the Sun Belt instead, I won't exactly cry about it. Except maybe in basketball.

Another stellar night of Jax St/ Jim Case baseball vs UAB. Gave up 7 runs on only 2 hits in the fifth. 6 walks and 2 hit batters.
Embarrassing/ Rudy Abbott is rolling over in his grave.

Help me understand. Why would we wait until a pitcher gave up 2 hits 5 walks and 2 hit batters and 7 runs in one inning before he is relieved?

We’re saving the arms of our other pitchers so we can go 1-2 in conference series. We have tUNA and UCA at home. We could potentially win all 6 of those because they are horrible.

Sounds like a good reason to despise baseball. I just get behind tanking half your season. Is their a limit on the number of pitcher you can have?

I miss the Abbott baseball culture. Wins were expected, no matter who you played. Meanwhile, the Troy Condoms just beat Auburn yesterday.
