Jerry Kill stepping down. Former UNLV coach Tony Sanchez supposedly to take his job. Lol a coach that went 20-40 at a school with superior resources. What a huge get.

He was a super successful high school coach but that doesn’t translate to college success. Setting aside the fact he is a scumbag, that is why I thought hiring Rush Probst as a head coach would have been a dumb idea. UAB could be learning this lesson the hard way with their journeyman NFL QB who lucked out when he got on a team with a super defense.

ALABAMA
Pete Thamel @petethamel With no likely internal replacements at Alabama, here’s a quick projected target list. Dan Lanning, Kalen DeBoer, Dabo Swinney, James Franklin, Mike Norvell and Marcus Freeman. All come with complications and big buyouts, as it’s difficult to move entrenched coaches.

Greg Byrne hired RichRod at Arizona.
Just saying.

Of course, they could do a lot worse than CRR but the great unwashed masses would never stand for it. They will demand whoever is perceived as the top coach in the country.

I would not rule out violence and mayhem in Tuscaloosa should that occurr. Just look at how they react to the mere suggestion of Dabo. Someone who has won championships and is an alum. Played for Gene Stallings. No, they would revolt.

Boy, I hope so, but if he’s anointed by the G.O.A.T…?

Better hope Kiffin doesn't get it. I could see CRR at Ole Miss.

I am also a Bama fan and post on a Bama board.
There are some who want Dabo but most are opposed. The opposition comes from Dabo’s approach to the transfer portal. He also may have been responsible for some things that led to probation. And his overly religious beliefs turn a few off as well.
Kiffin has opposing camps as well. Apparently he burned some bridges there. It is my understanding he has a drinking problem. Then some are worried he’d bring former Bama DC Pete Golding with him.
Dan Lanning seems to be the front runner. Everyone seems happy with him (he was a GA under Saban for one year) but his lack of head coaching experience (just two years at Oregon) is a concern.
In short, there is no one person everyone is marching behind.
RichRod taking and then retracing the job offer in 2007 is the subject of jokes. People would show up with torches and pitchforks if they hired him. He is not a serious candidate and nobody thinks that he is.
Let’s be honest. A school at Bama’s level isn’t going to hire Rich. Does anyone think Georgia would call him if Kirby takes the Falcons job?
Just a view from the dark side.

I'm hearing that an announcement will be made within a few days. They will try their best to prevent a mass exodus through the portal.

Lanning is in Tuscaloosa. Oregon has to he pissed. I don’t understand why that isn’t a destination job.

(Though Oregon will put up a fight. It's not like they're poor up there with all that Nike money blowing around campus.) But Dabo would be funny. Picture this: Dabo comes to Bama as HC. He ends up bringing Grass on as OC. After a few years, Dabo calls it quits. Grass inherits the job. You'd wind up with a guy fired from JSU as Bama's HC. And a guy who turned down the Bama job as Jax State HC. I mean, I don't think it would happen. (The odds are incredibly stacked against it.) But man, would that ever be funny. Editor's Note: Bama is my #3 team, behind the Gamecocks (#1) and family/hometown team UGA (#2). So even though I'd find it amusing, I seriously hope this doesn't happen. Dabo's a good fit at Clemson. He should stay there.
