Hot of the press: The Pro-Palestine, Antifa, BLM, Stop Oil and Planned Parenthood organizations will be contacting various irate Bama fans for effective protesting and rioting tactics. Now that ought to tell you something!

It's been announced that Lanning is staying in Oregon....but... So far, the rumors are: 1) Sark was contacted first and turned it down to stay at Texas. I'm not entirely sure I believe this, because (at least to my knowledge) Texas hasn't come out and publicly announced they're giving him a fat raise. I mean, c'mon. If you're a head coach and another team contacts you about a head coaching job, you HAVE to parlay that into a raise, or you're doing it wrong. 2) Lanning was contacted next, and, after a brief deliberation, also turned it down. (Again, I'm waiting for news that Oregon is doubling his salary. It's bound to happen.) 3) Washington coach Kalen DeBoer is now being touted by everyone who reckons himself a sports journalist as the frontrunner for the job. And if this is the case, I think it's safe to say, he won't turn down Alabama to stay with the Huskies. Sure, he has a $12.5M buyout, but that's not going to stop the likes of Bama. Their boosters walk around with that sort of small change in their pockets. Besides, Penix is gone to the NFL, and Washington will be in the Big Ten next year, so if he's going to leave, now's the time. He likely won't be back in the playoff for a few years if he stays in Seattle.

Kalen DeBoer - that ain't no kind of name for a coach Pawl. He don't no nuthin about SEC football.

Most southern jobs end up with several Jimmy Sexton raises. Sexing is a thing in college football coaching.

But I do agree with your positioning there. Pretty dang dumb to do what they did... We're not arresting any of the others mentioned. Maybe we could coax troy state into recruiting them since they know how to block roads.

He likely won't be back in the playoff for a few years if he stays in Seattle. Sounds like you have been listening to Joel Klatt for #1, #2 and #3. Not me, but probably some of the folks I follow on twitter. My wife, for one, thinks there's no way on God's green earth DeBoer gets offered the job. I don't entirely disagree, but I do agree with the rumor mill that if he's offered, unlike the others, he won't turn it down, and looking at the field of candidates, their hand may be forced to offer him. Oregon has the money (and swagger) to fend off Bama. Texas may have been down competitively in recent years, but Sark's got them playing at a Top 4 level, the Texas recruiting grounds are literally their backyard, and money has NEVER been an issue for the Longhorn Nation. And now they'll be in the SEC. It's one of the top jobs in college football now. Bama would just be a lateral move. I don't think he leaves. (Though his current wife is a Tallahassee native, so Tuscaloosa would be closer to home for her, if that matters at all to them. I still don't think he leaves.) Kirby Smart may leave UGA for the NFL, if he's of the "pro ball" mindset. (Not all coaches want to be in that position. You're a father figure to college kids; you're an employer to NFL players.) But there's not a college gig in America he'd take over the Bulldogs. Georgia is his home, and he's got UGA competing at Bama-style levels right now. Georgia, like Texas, is a recruiting hotbed, and UGA boosters have plenty o' cash. Odds of him leaving for Bama are nil. Now, Lane Kiffin would say yes. And I like Kiffin. I really do. He's kind of grown out of the snotty punk he was back before he joined Saban's staff. But I don't see him as a good fit in Tuscaloosa. I dunno, though. The times they are a'changin', as the kids say. But if they ask him, he'll accept. DeMeco Ryans is another one who would probably say yes. And he'd be both a good choice and a good fit, I think, but he's AWFULLY inexperienced at the head coaching thing to be thrust into this job. That's a lot to put on any coach. But I think he could make it work. But will they take a chance on someone so young for being "the guy after the guy"? I don't think Daboll is a serious candidate, unless the Tide is looking for an OC.
