He spent a total of 3 months at East Carolina. Barely long enough to unpack. Is that due to him or due to the mountaineers

These guys want the money. Heck we all do. You can’t get the money if you aren’t on the field. Even our NIL only begins after the 1st year is completed. Move down to find playing time as a way to showcase your talents then move back up and get bank. We are just a minor league program on the path towards professional college athletics (P2). The only thing that will keep players in line is they must always maintain a path towards graduating in 5 years. I wonder how many credits get lost in transfers but athletes always seem to remain on the path without losing eligibility. Also why doesn’t NIL collectives require non-compete clauses?

I would assume grades are why a person of his stature went the JUCO route out of high school, but it looks like his leaving ECU was due to a coaching change:
From 247:

Frye doesn't surprise me. He's a great talent, but he needs in-game experience to reach his full potential. Given the number of talented and experienced QBs we brought in from the Portal (which, it must be noted, I still hate) Frye's prospects for gaining experience in 2024 were growing increasingly remote. I hope he lands somewhere that can get him on the field. Frye has signed with Grambling.

Apologies if this has already been reported here, but I couldn't find it and it's not in this thread. We got linebacker Reginald Hughes from Ole Miss. Spent two years at JUCO and a couple of years at Ole Miss in a limited role, so I think we only have him for one year. Three star recruit coming out of JUCO.

Hughes was listed on my "Rich Rod's 3rd Signing Class" post as a Bandit, so we apparently knew about him; I just can't remember when he was added. One season of eligibility should be correct. When he signed with Ole Miss, he had 3 seasons to play 2. (That is, 2 eligible seasons plus a redshirt year.) Since he played in 2022 and redshirted in 2023, that should leave him with one. (The jaded, weary Portal critic in me can't help but think, we probably would've only had him for one year anyway...)
