How about Major Applewhite was the head coach at Houston and is the offensive coordinator for South Alabama, currently at a salary of $234k and Grass was $318k. Major is 43 years old and at Houston’s he went 7-5 and 8-5 the two years as HC. He also did OC at Rice U one of our competitors. He also has ties with Nick Sabans as the OC and analyst. Pretty impressive for recruiting and coaching don’t take think? Applewhite would be a solid candidate. One point though: Rice won't be one of our competitors. They're AAC bound.

Applewhite checks a lot of boxes for a coach that could possibly help JSU in this transition. JSU will need to get out of the division 2 mentality with coaching salaries, facilities and legitimate cooperate sponsorship to help be successful in the CUSA.

I'm simply saying the university needs to enter into an agreement with a marketing group like IMG to help with upgrading sports facilities through cooperate sponsorship. IMG has done very well for UAB and Troy as of late.

Do you think JSU's facilities come close to the standards of the teams that are in CUSA? "JSU has very good facilities." compared to who, division 2 schools? Its not a matter of what I like or don't like. Its about being able to compete with the schools on and off the field especially in recruiting.

Football, minus rodent infestations, plus the upcoming renovation, is where it needs to be for now. I do wish we'd expanded to 28K-30K, but until we're selling out the stadium routinely, that's probably overkill. As it stands, it'll be one of the best atmospheres in CUSA.
Basketball is small, but impressive. Again, it'll have a great atmosphere if can just draw a couple more thousand fans routinely. And until that happens, expansion is unwarranted.
Baseball is excellent as-is.
Softball still needs some post-tornado repairs and upgrades, but is otherwise excellent.
Our facilities have been FBS ready for several years. If we focus on putting a better product on the field/court, the next needed facility expansion/improvement will reveal itself.

In 21 months I think JSU should be very proud of the 4 main facilities. Football, basketball, softball and baseball. As far as CUSA, I went to a UAB basketball game and thought it was pretty bad. The "TALK" of the CUSA schools moving up to the AAC was how bad UTSA's basketball was, along with Rice. SMU (AAC) football is alright. Georgia State basketball wasn't anything outstanding.

Our baseball facility will be one of the best in the CUSA.
If anyone went to the Murray St basketball game a couple years ago when Ja Morant was in town, then you know how loud and hostile it could be in there. All we need is a modern score display in the center. And we'd be good. Small, but nice, which is fine until we pack it out.
I am optimistic about the football upgrades. I mentioned this on Twitter, but I'd like to see if we could save some of the old red chairbacks and sell them for a fundraiser.
I still think we need the "AJC beer and BBQ patio" with someone's dad out there cooking during the game 😁.

All we need is a modern score display in the center. Unless I'm mistaken, the modern center scoreboard is the last remaining item from the wishlist we made on GJS years ago. It's incredible how many of the other items from that list have come to fruition. It gives me hope for the double dome, bourbon slide, and unicorn breeding facility. Someone up there is paying attention.

Uab uat troy st USA and Auburn sell surplus online. I haven't seen any Jax st stuff yet. I did see balzer flooring and chairs though if they were ours I'd redone my living room. I believe the last dictates disposing of surplus in such a manner.

I believe the last dictates disposing of surplus in such a manner. I think it's a state rule. There are, apparently, ways around it in some cases, but generally, if something is state property, then if the state is done with it, as long as it retains any value, it's required to be sold as state surplus using the state's outlets for such. That sounds very official, but I want to stress, I'm going off memory here and don't claim to be an authoritative source. It seems like this is what I was told during one of the major renovations to *something* at JSU a couple decades ago. (I can't even remember what it was I was inquiring about. Long time ago.)

I spoke to a couple people in the know at the ACU game and I believe the plan is to sell the old red seats as a fund raiser.

Given our somewhat sudden pending move to FBS do we think the powers that be rethink the reduction in stadium capacity and figure out a way to add seating or at least keep it the same?
On a related note, I caught part of the UAB game on TV Saturday. Beautiful fall afternoon game, but looked like the stands were only about 10% full. I guess that new stadium excitement has faded a bit.

Not sure the new stadium excitement ever came. The first game was maybe a little over half full.
