What are the chances Max Thurmond gets hired as the new HC? Also, why were the two assistant head football coaches (Ogle and Sigler) passed up on taking the helm for the last two games?

My thoughts exactly: why did the assistant head coaches get by passed for a positions coach?

Zero chance. He's a caretaker until they hire a big name.
Ogle took over for Grass when he had COVID last year, this year? These seasons run together. I don't know. I guess they want those guys focused more on play calling.
I imagine those guys are fired at the end of the year too. Probably didn't want to give anybody false hope.

My vote would be zero. Not even an interview for anyone on staff.

I hope the next coach has full control over facilities and staff. End the tenure program, start fresh and positive with new ideas and direction. We don’t need someone to remind us how it was; it should be JSU is where we’re going

More assistant coaches available. Four offensive assistant coaches have been fired at Nebraska on the heels of the decision Monday to retain coach Scott Frost. Frost announced that offensive coordinator and receivers coach Matt Lubick, offensive line coach and run game coordinator Greg Austin, running backs coach Ryan Held and quarterbacks coach Mario Verduzco are out, effective immediately.

Regarding the coaching vacancy at the correspondence school in Pike County... 1) No to Chip. Absolutely not. Never. Not in a million years. Please. God. No. 2) Now that I got that out of the way, and purely for information's sake, here are some of the early "candidates" for that job. I put candidates in quotes, because this list is probably about as reliable as The Gadsden Times' list of JSU candidates. But I'm sharing it here so we can compare notes and see what kind of candidates our neighbor to the south is considering: - Kentucky LB coach/co-DC/asst HC Jon Sumrall (Huntsville native; former troy state special teams coordinator under Neal Brown)
- Texas A&M RB coach Tommie Robinson (troy state alum; former asst under Larry Brown; NFL and Alabama HS coaching experience; big-time, well-known recruiter of Alabama and SW Georgia)
- Notre Dame RB coach/run game coordinator Lance Taylor (Alabama native; one of the leading candidates for USA's job last year)
No one is saying the trojans have to hire any of these guys, but the publication that put out this list thinks troy state will go for a P5 assistant with ties to troy state or Alabama. It's really not unlike the lists for JSU that include former Gamecock players and assistants who are now with P5s or are high-level coordinators at established G5 programs. So we're looking at the same type of candidate. Let's hope JSU makes the better choice.

Also no current HS coaches on either list.

I expect Piedmont to beat Saks and make the state title game. If they beat Montgomery Catholic, hire Steve. That is either a miracle or he is the second coming of Coach Bear Parsegian Switzer Warner Lombardi Shula Landry Ditka.
