We ought to beat Kennesaw by 40 with a decent playbook.

We ought to beat Kennesaw by 40 with a decent playbook. At least there will be a new playbook. Hopefully HCRR brought one.

I predict we go undefeated next year. Did we find some linemen? If an FCS team is capable of beating Florida State, even on their worst day, talent and ability is not the issue. FSU was bad in 2021, no doubt, but they were physically FBS. FSU had 37 four star recruits in the last four recruiting classes. I doubt we have had that many in history. Was our OL a weakness in 2021? Absolutely at times… but the question is why? If we just eliminated penalties and turnovers in 2021, we would have won enough games to get a playoff bid. We wouldn’t have beaten SHSU or UAB, but the rest of the games were winnable. Even Kennesaw was winnable…the outcome was the result of 5 fumbles and 2 interceptions to go with our chuck and duck offensive attack. We probably still lose that game, but it should have been closer. Not making the 4th and 2 from their 20, and then throwing an interception on the next possession killed us. Lack of discipline is a killer against option teams as well. If we beat UTM and UCA the complexion of EKU would have been totally different. Our defense let us down in that game. I can’t wait to see what Coach Rich Rod cooks up in 2022.

Same here. I’m finally looking forward to football season again. The possibilities are exciting.
I ask anyone this, which game is the one we can’t win?

Rich Rod should be a much better playcaller, yes. But these are still Grass players and discipline doesn't instill itself overnight. I expect an improvement, but not a full stop solution.

Discipline installed itself relatively quickly after Crowe. Physical fitness did also. All we needed this year was discipline and better play calling. I’m sure play calling will improve immediately. And discipline win quickly follow. If it doesn’t it may never. So is the no game we can’t win?

And discipline win quickly follow. If it doesn’t it may never. So is the no game we can’t win? With some of the assistants that Coach RR hired, discipline will be instant. If it isn't, those players won't be wearing Gamecock uniforms. He may be 72, but Rick Trickett is a Marine corp drill sergeant and hard as nails. As for games that we can't win... all of them look winnable. Tulsa will be difficult, but not impossible. They lost to UC Davis to open the season, but stayed within 21 of Ohio State, gave Cincy and Oklahoma state a very tough time, and finished 5-3 in the AAC, 7-3 overall. They aren't P5 level, but they are a competitive team.

Tulsa is a solid G5 bowl champion who, as you pointed out, lost to an FCS opponent last year. They'll also know that JSU beat FSU last fall and are in transition to FBS. We won't catch them napping. I don't know that I'd go so far as to say we "can't" win it. But we'll have to play our butts off to do it.

Nichols will be tough on the road. Assuming Cole Kelly doesn’t come back, SELA may be a win.
