Southern Miss has never recovered from hiring Ellis Johnson. He performed the impossible in taking a 12 win team and turning it into a 12 loss team. I was working on visiting every OVC stadium. I think SEMO was the only one I missed. Don’t see myself getting to too many road games now. MTSU and WKU aren’t bad and Tech and Liberty are doable. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Consider yourself lucky for never visiting SEMO. The stadium is a 1920’s concrete slab at best. The fans on the home side were very nice and complimentary of our program when we visited. The students on the visitor side were punks and disgusting. We saw King Gamecock there. He was BigFan back then! Wow!!!! You remembered! Big_Fan was my screen name for a decade across many forums. I always loved meeting other posters at games. Meeting ajc and jsurn at Beef O'brady's in Cookville is a fond memory I will always hang on to...just like that game was a nightmare I will never forget. That SEMO game was 11 years ago...Fall of 2011. Some games stick with you. The trailer/pressbox on the visitor side beat all.

I'll probably never get to see another away game now that I have three kids under 2. The only OVC stadium I ever made it to was Austin Peay. Pre-sinkhole. The sinkhole did it a favor.

Any of y'all gonna make the trip to Ypsilanti? Probably the only JSU game I'll get to see live for a long while.

Worst visiting stadium for me was Eastern Illinois. The visiting side had bleachers like you see at a little league park and porta-potty bathrooms.

I'm thinking about it. Does anyone know where the team is staying?

I hope today made it more understandable. One day is one day. Similar to the weather and climate debate. Was thinking about you yesterday. Trying to be objective and fair. 9/14/2022 Sun BeltMarshall had a bad loss to Bowling Green (poor) App State took a hail mary to beat Troy (AP St not real good/ Troy not bad) Georgia Southern lost to UAB. UAB played a strong first half. (Would have called that a toss up) Texas State lost to Baylor (Expected) Coastal Carolina at home beat Buffalo (OK win) USA lost by 1 at UCLA (Positive) Old Dominion lost by 2 to Virginia at the gun (Positive) Alabama scrimmaged ULM (Expected) Memphis beat Arkansas State (Expected) USM scrimmaged NW State (Expected) Charlotte nipped GA State in Atlanta (Poor) Rice beat Louisiana (poor) JMU had a bye 2023's CUSAJSU you guys know (Poor) SHSU beat TX A&M Commerce (Expected) MTSU whipped TN State (Expected) WKU lost to Indiana in OT (Good for WKU but Indiana is not good) FIU had a bye (They are really bad) La Tech was respectable at Clemson (Positive) UTEP lost to New Mexico (Poor) NMSU scrimmaged Wisconsin (Expected) Liberty lost by 1 to Wake Forest (Positive) Summary Sunbelt had 2 Positives and 3 poors (14 schools) 2023 CUSA teams had 3 positives and 2 poor (9 schools) Basically Marshall was the tipping point.

To be fair this weeks performance for SBC was a bad as last weeks good. ULaLa, GSU and Marshall losses were bad. App barely beat an avg at best troy state team. The big name programs made last weeks big wins look like miracles except GaSo. Nebraska isnt as good as GaSo. But this week will have as much value on the long term as last week, not much. The SBC had a few programs come to them from CUSA which gave them a little bit of the big head and in the end they are about where they were before these programs were added. The only G5 conference to have much of a change in quality will be AAC.
JSU looked like we will take USM or ODU spot real well next year. This isnt a compliment.

No it’s not. Hopefully we won’t stay there.

No it’s not. Hopefully we won’t stay there. Ditto. My Gamecock-colored glasses say we'll win multiple CUSA championships and multiple bowl games, and, when things really click for us, we'll flirt with the lower half of the Top 25. It's not really unheard of. If troy state can do it, so can we. But even when I take off those glasses and put on my realist shades, I see the makings of a competitive, consistently bowl-eligible program. We looked awful against Tulsa, and if we looked this way against them three years from now, I'd be concerned. But we're 1) still in FCS, 2) still playing with less than the full allotment of scholarships, 3) still learning the intricacies of a new offense and defense, and 4) still haven't had a full recruiting season under the new coaching staff. I'll take 3-1 any day, even with the bad loss against a solid G5 opponent. I'll feel even better if we whup a whole lot of FCS programs the rest of the season.

We’d be 3-1 or worse with last years coaching staff so definately not a downward slide.
