Does anyone have any thoughts on why these things are not spoken about to friends of the university? It has been an issue forever and I cant come up with a good reason as to why the University doesnt market itself nor why future growth and plans arent broadcasted to the world. Most media outlets are looking for something new (like trying to decide dinner after eating the same thing over and over). Public institutions seem to get near the front of the line from media outlets for little or no cost and social media has little cost. Anyways, if anyone can explain please do. The only theory I have is nepotism. I once applied for a job at JSU and found out later the job had already been filled before it was even posted. The posting was just done "for legal reasons." A few years later, I learned I was (by far) not the only person with that same experience. Joe Smith works a student job in the Department of Doing Things. He graduates. The Department of Doing Things creates a full-time position duplicating the responsibilities Joe once handled as a student. They post the job for 30 days or whatever is legally required, then they hire Joe to fill it. Joe is now a full-time employee, doing the same job he did as a student worker. An outsider tells them, "You should do this new thing instead!" and they reply, "We're doing all the things we can do with the budget we're given. We don't have the money or staff to do that new thing. We just had to hire a full-time worker just to continue doing the things we were already doing." Rinse and repeat. You nailed it Whup. I’d add a few other reasons, such as some people are hired because they check specific boxes, competency not always one of the boxes. Another issue is separation of efforts, such as athletics marketing/university marketing not always working together. And some folks are more interested in making their jobs easier or increasing their control, etc, over doing what’s best for the university. Lack of money is a real thing, though the reasons are often arbitrary. At one time, the University Photographer had a bed in his office because he was a one-man shop, working enough hours to actually need it because the demand for his services was enough for 2 full time photographers, but the University wouldn’t spend the money. I spent 17 years trying to get a second photographer approved, documenting hours worked, requests for services, increase of student enrollment, faculty, admin, extra services expected…. only to be told my VP wouldn’t even give the info to the president/BoT because it was a “non starter “. Heck, athletics needs a full time shooter just to cover sports needs, but I was expected to never say no to any assignment request. Now, the university no longer has a single full time photographer, yet, a VP once told me that “if it’s not at least 5 figures, it’s not real money”.

I would pay for a container before a suite with no outside access. If I could bring a grill I might really be interested. Would probably stick to my current arrangement.

If anyone here we're willing to pay 20k a year to rent one of these, they'd all be in a suite already. Why not do something people can or will be able to use. Perhaps some of you can afford that but I'd bet 99% of us can't. I'd prefer something that would actually add to the GameDay experience for the fans and not for a few corporate people who don't care about the game. Not necessarily. The current suites offer a sterile vibe since the windows don't open. I know several people who aren't interested in paying for that but would for something that would open The small windows at he top open, but not the big ones. $20k is for the whole suite. 20 seats. Basically, $1000 a year per ticket. A bit more than club level, but there is no going outside. In my opinion club is great, except for those who move couches and beat on the windows instead of seating in their ticketed seat...... they sit on the couch the whole game so know one else can eat without standing. The only other thing is infants and toddlers. We really need an area for them. It seems that families come to the game, but moms and kids are stuck over in a corner sitting on the floor. Don't take me wrong they just need an area,

If they remodeled them with opening windows like the radio booth, my group would consider.

If the goal is, and I'm sure it is, to generate revenue as efficiently as possible. These make great sense and Is likely a good thing to do But if your interest is in growing fan support and to increase the atmosphere at the game for those who attend and for those you'd like to attend. Then a less costly additions would be better like an area for kids. Not long ago kids played down in front of the fieldhouse. My nephew played there a lot met other kids and actually got to know troymaine popes grandmother and ended up friends with Eli Jenkins. It was great for him. But costed and earned nothing. Net zero except for a great experience for kids. A similar place to sit and hang out for adults would be a great addition at a lesser cost but would likely generate lesser return except in the GameDay excitement and entertainment and possibly greater attendance. I'd advocate for an area for locals and visitors to interact to watch the game at a moderate increase in cost for attendees. Maybe an open air club level rather than just adding 2000 dollar a game shipping containers the few can afford.
I could picture some type of towers built in the corners to replace the visitor locker rooms and concession stands with seating or fan spaces atop. What type I have no idea.

It was pretty full except for the visitor section. They brought very few fans and was easily outnumbered by Jax St fans on that side.

Agreed it was a long distance and frankly I'm surprised anyone came. I assumed it was mostly players families. I know there was a large group there for number 8 peavy Jr.
