From what I understand the promotion/relegation is pretty popular in European soccer. So, I wouldn't call it a stupid idea.
It only grabbed my attention because it mentions CUSA and was only western, mountain and central time zone. So, by a few miles JSU fits in that.

If true parity is desired, promotion/relegation is a way to make that possible. It would wreak havoc on coaching hires.

It works for European soccer because they’ve always done it that way. It isn’t going to be instituted here which is why it’s a stupid idea. Nobody wants to be forced down and it’s hard to build rivalries if the league lineup is constantly changing.

Brett McMurphy @brett_McMurphy
Delaware moving from FCS to FBS & join Conference USA in 2025-26 school year, sources told @actionnetworkhq.
Delaware would be 1st FCS school required to pay $5 million application fee to move up to FBS (previously was $5,000)

Blue Hens are coming in 2025 Making CUSA more like FCS. I’d take them over UCONN or UMASS. What would be more like FCS is bringing in non-FB schools. Let’s hope that doesn’t happen.

Blue Hens are coming in 2025 Making CUSA more like FCS. Look at the well-respected Sun Belt East and you'll see some of the best the FCS had to offer in the last 15 years. CUSA is following that recipe with us, Sammy, Kenny, Liberty and now Delaware. You'll have to give it time, but people won't be laughing at this league for very long.

That would put CUSA at 11 teams in 2025. I expect they are going after at least one more team to join in 2025 as well to get to and even 12. Most likely would see divisions form then as well. Exciting stuff to see happening!

The Blue Hens are ranked #11 in the latest STATS football poll, and face Montana in the 2nd round of the playoffs. They averaged 15,500 fans at home during the regular season.
Their men's hoops team is ranked #154 (KenPom) which would be good enough for 5th in CUSA.
Their baseball team finished the 2022-23 season ranked #111. That places them 4th behind DBU (#13), Sammy (#74), and Liberty (#97) among current CUSA teams.
If this is what it means to be "more like FCS" then I'm all for it.
I know UMass is being rumored as the 12th team, but I'm still holding out hope for EKU or SFA. (Tarleton's a distant 3rd.) The Minutemen bring nothing for football and are WAY out of the current footprint, but like Delaware, they bring a heckuva lot to the table in other sports. If they get the call, I'll support it. They're just not who I would've picked.

Exciting stuff to see happening! Our footprint is imperfect for east-west divisions. But it works well for pods. With credit to Whup and operating under the assumption we take UMass, the pod system looks like this: EastFIU Liberty Delaware UMass Central
Jax State Kenny MTSU WKU WestSammy LaTech UTEP NM State The traditional east/west division would look like, assuming UMass doesn't make the cut: WestUTEP NM State Sammy LaTech FIU (Because everyone flies there anyway) (Missouri State, Tarleton, SFA) EastJax State Kenny MTSU WKU Liberty Delaware

2024-25: Jax St/Sammy full members, Kennesaw Year 2 transition, Delaware Year 1
2025-26: Kennesaw full member, Delaware Year 2
2026-27: Delaware full member

I don't hate it. Their facilities are pretty good except for baseball and softball. I would expect that UCONN or UMASS will follow to give them somewhat closer travel. bluehens.com/feature/facilities
