NMSU's QB and head coach were there for that bowl game. So, it was very close to the finished product.
It's very close between the Sunbelt and CUSA. Neither side has anything to brag about.
Who was Liberty's best victory against? JMU and Troy didn't have any great wins either.
SBC wasnt the best G5, I do believe Liberty was the best G5 team. Does this make CUSA the best G5, according to how you measure. G5 overall was as weak as ever this year. Huge gap between top level teams and top level G5 teams.

If that's your logic, then the MAC was the best conference in 2016 because 13-0 Western Michigan went to the NY6... even though 8 of the MAC's 12 teams finished with losing records.

I think there are points being made on both sides of this. It's true, the sun belt is better than it used to be. It used to be the absolute bottom of the FBS. Now some computer ranking place it above other G5s for the first time in it's existence. It's true, the sun belt is not as good as their loudest fans would have you believe. Most of their bowl teams lost. Half the league finished with a losing record. They benefited from being a league full of teams the American didn't want, and they were able to take a handful of bad C-USA teams to grow to 14. They're still a league that gets regularly run through by FCS call ups. Georgia Southern, App State and Jimmy all did the same thing. It's true, the MAC is the worst. Eastern Michigan was a 9-win bowl winner in 2022 and we smoked them in our first FBS season. It's true, the Mountain West is the best G5 league. Three-way tie for the championship game and, great media payout, strong conference with a big enough exit fee to be a deterrent.

More logical for someone to gauge it by who has the best team than going on the logic didnt have the worst team, which one be the only way to gauge the SBC as best. Guess the other way to gauge the SBC the best may be the delta between the best team and worst team.

MWC has a much better argument for being the overall best league than the other leagues, AAC would be next but their botton is not very good.

In a nutshell, here it is: Whup Troy!' After troy state defeated JSU, 37-6, in 1969, Jacksonville State coach Charley Pell, who went on to coach at Clemson and Florida, told his players they would "whup Troy" the following season. The Gamecocks won, 55-10, in 1970 on their way to a perfect 10-0 season.Mar 21, 2021

There is a story why it's spelled WHUP TROY And that DOESN"T need to change. Share it. I'd prefer the diminutive version. Whup troy state Fall of 1969 was Charley Pell's first year. troy state beat us pretty bad. Back then pep rallies were a pretty big campus event on Thursday night. Coach Pell was a master at speaking to a crowd. He had eyes of steel that could look right through you. The next Thursday @ Pep Rally, Coach walked up to the mic and stood there till there total silence and said, "I promise you. (pause) This time next year Troy State will be toting a WHUPPED ASS!" And walked out of Paul Snow. Thus the phrase Whup Troy was born. Next year buttons & ribbons were sold....Whup Troy. And we did. I believe the score was 55-10 or in that range. " In the middle of the 4th quarter the student section was yelling "Troy State's toting a WHUPPED ASS." Coach Pell came down and motioned for the students to get louder. And we loved it. I was there. Freshman & Sophomore year

If you are with Rick and Bubba you are going to be the smartest person in the room. To Seitz's credit, I'd wager he's the smartest person in most of the rooms he enters. Based on what? Wow. Seems a little over the top there
