Based on what? Wow. Seems a little over the top there Let's just say I've known him for a few years. I’d agree. He’s a smart guy…

I've met some other ADs.
Greg may not always be the smartest, but by God, he's never the stupidest.
*except for that Yankees thing.

Pell actually told his players after the 1969 game, "Next year, troy is gonna tote a whupped ass home." It was Gamecock fullback and team captain Mike Little who coined the "WHUP TROY" phrase, in 1970. All way before my time. But I share your love for history so Whup Troy it is. IMHO, we should drop the “Fear the Beak” phrase and go back to “Whup _____” (insert whichever opponent we are playing at the time) It’s original, It’s regional, it’s historical, and it’s simple and easy for marketing purposes. (Not the dreaded “M” word) Whup Kenny! Or, just plagiarize and shorten it to the non-specific “Whup ‘em!” ;-) Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Gamecocks actually inflict damage with spurs rather than beaks. Hence the minor birds using the phrase “Spurs Up”. So technically, it should be “Fear the Spurs”. I don’t dislike “Fear the beak”, I just prefer the historical significance of “Whup”. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk I've always said it should be "Fear the Spur" and the hand gesture should be an extended finger to represent the spur. I guess any finger might work, but the middle one seems more natural.

How bout "Boom there it is" with a middle finger"spur" salute. To the opposing teams and an occasional referee.
