SEC and the Big Ten have to get to 20 each within five years. Then we'll see some kind of scheduling alliance with the Big 12/PAC-12/ACC remnants. This means nothing for JSU except that we will be a middling team in a new division of football when the big boys make it official that we're not equals.

Wouldn't be surprised if Oregon and Washington also went to the Big 10. Edit: Maybe Arizona and Arizona State to Big 12. Colorado and Utah? AZ and AZ State have had conversation with the SEC.It appears the PAC12 is the weaker one between them and the B12. All we can do is wait and see if any of the rumors or guesses are correct. Did you mean to type Big 12?

They’d be humiliated weekly in the sec. even worse than Missouri’s fate.

SEC and B1G go all the way to 24. Wash and Ore to B1G as early as July 5th. Everyone else is waiting on the ND domino to fall. Where they choose to go (my guess is B1G now that USC is there) will trigger the ACC moves. (If the ACC dissolved, the GORs won’t matter anymore) NC would be next. If they go to the B1G, then the SEC would react with some combination of Clem, Fla St, Miami, Louisville, Az St, Ok St, maybe Va, maybe Duke or NC St. The SuperConferences may even shed some dead weight (Vandy, Rutgers) and add other schools that are less academically inclined and more likely to commit to spending money on football, football facilities, and football related stuff. (This is all about football BTW and really nothing to do with TV market size like it was in the past - although TV market size might save Rutger somehow)
Unfortunately this means JSU is back down to the third tier again, but at least we’re not in the fourth tier. I think those P5 schools that get left out of the big two may be forced to step back economically, and that may be what makes our move to CUSA worth it because then we’d stay second tier. CUSA could add some former ACC and XII schools.

Dont see us at the third tier but the second.
If your not in the BIG or SEC and still FBS you will be second tier. The ones left behind in the ACC, B12 and PAC will be with us in no money land.

No money land might be an over statement. *insert "We need to get better at basketball because that's where the money is" argument here* There's still going to be a pretty good contingent of former Power 5 schools that all have large fanbases and boat loads of money. Those fan base aren't going to just evaporate. Less money, maybe. But let's say we do split in two with the Power conferences doing the CFP and everyone else going into a separate post season. We could host our own playoff bracket. And we could do 8 or even 16 teams since that seems to be a large request for the CFP format to expand. We could even call it something like the Football Championship Series. Imagine if we could have the opportunity to play schools like Louisville, Oklahoma State, and Utah for a chance at a National Championship?

You guys are sure over estimating JSU's future position.
-------------------- Tier 1: (BIG Money) 8 playoff schools
SEC ------------- 20 schools Big 10 will have 20 schools --------------------
Tier 2: (Some Money) 4 playoff schools
ACC Combo Big 12 and PAC AAC Mountain West --------------------
Tier 3: (Little Money) 2 playoff schools total, not 3 CUSA Sun Belt MAC

It’s not yet clear how all this is gonna shake out. So cast uninformed stones elsewhere atlantatrojan.
WhAt we do know is a split is coming from the top level. Whether that is two conferences or 4 we don’t know. It’s likely their isn’t 3 levels of fbs, if for no other reason than the lack of enough schools.

The number of FBS schools isn't likely to change other than FCS schools going to CUSA. If you analyze the current FBS there are already 3 tiers. Tier 1: Big 10, SEC, Big 12, ACC, PAC 12 Tier 2: AAC, Mountain West Tier 3: Sun Belt, MAC, CUSA

Divisions or subdivisions of FBS will remain 2 unless the SEC and BIG use another name. Money gap could grow at first but will level out after a few contracts and the tv rating come in on the new setup.
The fans of the Louisvilles of the world will slow drift away if left out of the SEC/BIG. Their base will come to look like ours. People with a real connection to the school and a few locals. Few sidewalk fans will stay a fan of the non SEC/BIG group.
The big question will be if the SEC/BIG eliminate the games against low level FBS.
My hope is we end up about where we are headed with CUSA. Playing the MTSU, WKU and UABs of the world is where we need to be as a university.

Divisions or subdivisions don't have to be named.
TV and streaming money tell you what they are.
